A few days ago I asked if the moon has an atmosphere. Everyone had great answers but I'm a beginner in astronomy so I think I'll understand better if someone can tell me the difference between what it would be like to land on the moon and the earth.

  1. there is no atmosphere, you you need a pressurized space suit or your blood will boil(from lack of pressure), temperature extremes will be more noticeable due to lack of insulating atmosphere, the gravity is much lower so your body which was made for walking in higher gravity will have to rely on hopping like motions to actually move around with your legs.

  2. Landing on the moon would be a lot slower because the gravity is so much less.  In fact, in videos made from the first lunar landers, they looked like they were coming in slow motion, like they were balloons or gliders.

But when spacecraft return to the earth, they blast through the atmosphere being pulled in at very high speeds,  causing temperatures that would burn up the ships if they didn't use heat shields.

  3. Well, the moon has less gravity than the Earth. When you're on Earth, you're practically pushed down from the sky.

Landing on the moon, it's like you're being pulled away from it (make one wrong step and you're on one heck of a journey into outer space). Kind of an interesting concept.
