CB Darrelle Revis lavishes praise on New York Jets teammate and QB Tim Tebow - NFL News
For a backup quarterback, Tim Tebow is really making waves in the New York Jets locker room.
On Tuesday, Jets quarterbacks coach, Matt Cavanaugh lavished praise on Tebow and said that he was improving considerably with each practice.
He is not the only one to be impressed with the former Denver Broncos starter though.
Cornerback, Darrelle Revis in an interview on Wednesday with the New York Daily News
lavished praise on Tebow and said that he was a born leader.
“He’s a born leader. He really is. Very few athletes have the gift that he has. He tries to lead by example all the time and he tries to be positive, which is awesome.”
Adding further he said.
“Some people have it. Some guys don’t. It’s the passion within . . . of him wanting to be a leader, wanting to win. You see it in him all the time. He has passion for what he does and you could see it. You can see it on him when you have a conversation with
him. He’s just a leader.”
Tebow has received much praise recently by both teammates and coaches about his work ethic and passion in training.
The quarterback is known to come in to training early in the morning and be the last to leave each day as he prepares to help the Jets in the upcoming 2012-13 season.
It remains to be seen how the franchise will use Tebow in the offence.
Head coach, Rex Ryan and general manager, Mike Tannenbaum have maintained that quarterback, Mark Sanchez will remain the starter for the upcoming season with Tebow backing him up.
However, Tebow could take up to 20 snaps per game as part of offensive coordinator, Tony Sparano’s wildcat offence.
Revis though went on to say that Sanchez and Tebow are equally talented players and both when used together will give opposing defences a lot to think about.
"You wouldn't be able to prepare for it because nobody has ever seen it.”
The Jets ended last season with a poor 8-8 record and missed out on the playoffs after some poor performances at the tail-end of the season.
This year they will be looking to turn things around.
