I just bought a CB radio today and live in Massachusetts. Does anyone know if I need to be licensed or not to use it and also, some common CB phrases I can learn? Thanks for any input on this subject in advance.

  1. No just use it

  2. Alright, you dont need a lisence, you dont need anything.  You can learn some ten codes, like 10-4, which means ok, or roger.  10-20 is location, hersa  site with all of them.

  3. no, no licence since the 70's

their are some good guys up near you at like 2 to 5 in the morn.  common CB phrases... i dont mean to tell that guy hes wrong but 10 codes youll never reall hear on standard 40 channel CB, its more of a sideband or amature radio thing.   you might want to learn a couple things, like "bear=cop" and what hammer lanes are, and a few other things, but for the most part your plain old very da english will be sufficient
