CB Teddy Williams signs for Indianapolis Luck to replace waived Marshay Green on roster – NFL News
The Indianapolis Colts have shaken up their roster to introduce a pair of strange changes just ahead of the New England Patriots' game this Sunday (Nov. 18).
As per change, the team have promoted cornerback Teddy Williams from the practice squad to active roster – a strange move given Teddy has not played football at all in the college league and spent some time only at practice squads of a couple of teams.
The Colts have not disclosed terms of his full contract, and this includes value and tenure of the deal. To accommodate him on the active roster, the management has let go cornerback Marshay Green.
Some commentators have questioned the credibility of the Colts’ choice given Teddy has not played football league in college or professional one. He is a track and field runner from Texas-San Antonio and became a part of the football league in 2010 when
he was picked up by the Dallas Cowboys to place him on the practice squad.
He was then released and joined Colts on their practice squad this October, and now promoted to active roster.
While Green has some football experience, Teddy is a complete novice to the game, and analysts are baffled with the team’s choice of selecting him over an experienced guy just before their important game.
It is yet to be seen how he performs in the real conditions. Obviously, the concern should be for the team, because it is a good opportunity earned by the player himself, and that too in short span. He is expected to be taken into the final selection of
the squad for the weekend game.
The Colts face one of the stiff oppositions this Sunday when they meet the Patriots for a road game. It is also a real test for their star performer quarterback Andrew Luck, who has led the team to rebound on the miserable 2011 season.
As earlier mentioned, the Patriots are a strong defensive line and beating them will require a special strategy and planning. The Colts nevertheless are confident of putting up a strong show on Sunday, irrespective of the questions who wins.
