What would CBS do if Tiger missed the cut? There are 89 other players but all they care about is Tiger. Is anybody else sick of the all Tiger telecast?

By the way, The Golf Channel is the same!

  1. Are you kidding me? Why would I watch anyone else? Most of them are irrelevant anyway..  Most of them are trying to make the cut when Tiger is only interested in winning. The revenue he generates for the PGA and its affiliates is ridiculous. This guy is once in a lifetime/generation golfer, how do you not enjoy watching him?

  2. Tiger is a petulant, pouty-faced, poor sport who has done plenty for himself and nothing for the sport. It is hilarious to listen to the announcers falling over themselves trying out-do each other with compliments. Today Bobby Clampett said that it was not a matter of "if" but "when" Woods would break Nicklaus's record of major wins. Fine. Then Clampett went on to say it is possible that Tiger could end up with a total "in the thirties." It is also possible that a monkey will fly out of my behind.

  3. I love the Tiger coverage, but I will still watch it even if he never shows up.  The reason why thye cater to him so much is because he is so friggin good.

By the way, the Golf Channel rules too!

  4. So hands down Tiger is the best golfer in the world.  I like Tiger, some of his golf shots are out of this world. Thou I do tend to change the channel when hes 9 ahead going to 13th hole. It dosent matter if Tiger missed the cut they would still talk about him. compare him to other golfers. Even when Tiger dosent play, its Tiger this Tiger that. I know Tiger wants majors, and dosent play that much (14 Tournaments I think). And I'm Sure other players are tired of it to. A player Wins a tournament  hes compared to tiger. Player Hits a great shot compared to Tiger. Has a hard shot Tiger again. It a now win,,may Tiger should have his own Tiger PGA

  5. Been sick of it for years.  Let's hope he doesn't blurt out another F-word or threaten to break someone's f**ken neck after being "distracted", which he allegedly did recently.

The worst thing about the cameras always being on him is that he is a terrible role model for kids.  His swearing is disgusting.

  6. They would go in and watch him take a c**p if they could.  Makes me sick how they plaster him all over the TV.  I would like to see some other golfer hit not just Woods.  That's why  I refuse to watch any golf tournament that he is in.

  7. i have been watching and playing golf since i was in middle school.  i remember watching the masters and such in the 80's when i was a kid and except for the golf it was not really all that interesting.

tiger woods has been the best thing to ever happen to the pga.  he's opened up a hugh demographic that never really cared about golf until now, which provided a windfall for the pga and ALL of the other players.

purses have exploded during the tiger era. i remember when the winner or a tournament would win $100,000. now small purses are $700,000.  tiger brings a lot of media attention b/c he gives the people what they want; something different. there have been great golfers in the past, but no one has been more dominant than tiger.

the masters will be all tiger, all day b/c that will sell tickets and generate ad revenue and swell the purses of other tournaments.

and the demographic that i was refering to are people who don't play golf! for the 1st time ever, there are more people who don't play golf watching live tv coverage of pga tour events; when tiger is playing.  he's a hugh attraction. he's their golden goose, and you better believe their going to milk him for every bit of publicity and money they can make off him.

it's the american way, and what's more american than a black kid with a asian mother who plays golf.  and has beaten every country club raised golfer in the country?  he is american pie so you better get used to him.  he'll go down as the greatest golfer of all time and even nicholas has said that publically.

i love golf and have many favorite players, but you cannot ignore the shadow that tiger casts over the golf world.  you lose credibility if you say he's somehow not important.  most people love the guy and that's why there is this media obsession over him.

hope you enjoy the masters. i'll be following tiger on my blackberry, over the internet and live coverage when i can watch it.

    all the best.

  8. Tiger is hot right now.  What he is doing right now deserves attention.  I am a fan of Tiger and truly enjoy watching in amazement the things he can do with a golf ball.  He is getting the attention because he is the overwhelming favorite, not because he is Tiger.  Once, that I can recall, Tiger was pasted on the screen struggling while some one else was recording a career round/course record.  The station caught flak for it.  I have tuned into a couple of tournaments expecting to see Tiger and did not because he was not doing well.  However, that has not happened in the last 6 months or so.

    Go Tiger!

  9. I am a little tired of it, yes. They usually only seem to show like 4 players other than Tiger in a telecast, they follow EVERY shot of theirs and if someone is even 5 shots back they show them about twice a round. I don't understand at all.

  10. No. I'm not sick of Tiger. I only watch golf when Tiger is playing.

  11. every channel is the same even the bbc have a interactive option to follow just tiger on his round they did it at the open last year

  12. WE ALL GET A BIT MORE "TIGER" THEN WE MAY WANT TO SEE. JUST BE THANKFUL YOU CAN SEE IT, YOUR GOING TO MISS HIM WHEN HE STOPS PLAYING. TOO MUCH COVERAGE? GET OVER IT!!!!

  13. Well its not their fault that Tiger is the most dominant athlete of our time!!! There are lots of other golfers out there that have a chance at winning the Masters besides Tiger: Mickelson, Choi, Holmes, Singh, Ogilvy, ect.

But until Tiger is dethroned as the best golfer in the world (which probably won't happen anytime soon!!) he is going to get all the attention...just the nature of the beast...

  14. They would probably show replays of last year just to get him on the screen.  He is a great talent, but I too am sick of seeing every swing he makes even if he is ten shots out of the lead.

  15. Yes, they worship him. I'm sick of it, too. I don't want him to win.

  16. The only way the casual fan will watch a lot is if they focus on Tiger. The average joe couldn't care less about guys like Zach Johnson who won last year. A repeat of that is a worst case scenario for CBS.
