Question:

CC's 1 hitter, should it count?

If you saw the brewers game or a highlight, maybe you know what I'm talking about. CC Sabbathia went 9 innings today giving up only 1 hit, a swinging bunt. Sabathia didn't field it cleanly, it was ruled a hit. Brewers are appealing the hit. Despite the fact that i dont think it shouldnt be a hit, its consistent with what has been being called all year, for that reason i think it should count as a hit but thats debatable. What are your thoughts?

  1. I was there.

I personally would have scored it an Infield Hit.

But had i known that would have been the only hit of the game, I would've changed it to an Error.  He pitched great and deserved the No Hitter.

Congrats on beating up my PirAAAtes :-P

  2. It was a No hitter the scoring guy just said that cuz he didnt want his team 2 get no hitted

  3. That was an error. Do you know how far the batter was from first when CC attempted to pick it up? Even the guys on Baseball Tonight said that should be an error. I really hope they overturn this call.

  4. Without having seen it, I hope the fat dude gets his no-hitter. But I will try to watch a replay of the play in question. If it is a hit, it's a hit. It doesn't necessarily matter that he didn't field it cleanly, if the scorer believes the batter would have beat any possible play.

  5. just give it up. its 1 hit who cares?!?!?!?!

  6. ive seen that call go either way

i would go with the same call

  7. An error all the way!

Replay shows the batter 1/3 the way to first when CC bobbled it. The batter would have been out by a mile.

    Its a assinine call.

    NO-HITTER

  8. I saw the replay and there is no doubt that Sabbathia would have thrown him out, but when guys go for barehanded plays and bobble it, scorers will usually call it a hit. I agree with the call, but if the league decides to overturn it I would agree with that as well.

EDIT: SportsCenter just agreed with me in saying that barehanded errors are usually given hits anyway.

  9. I am a diehard Indians fan. I still love C.C., even though he left my team. I love seeing him succeed in Milwaukee. But honestly, that was a hit. The ball bounced and rolled a few feet away from home plate, and I think even had C.C. made a good play on the ball, the call at first would have been close.

Watching the replays, it just looks like a hit.  I know every Brewer fan out there is saying it's an error, and I know a NO hitter looks better than a 1 hitter, but come on. Your ace just pitched Another complete game and moved to 9-0. You really don't have much to complain about.

Again, I love C.C. as much as the next guy, but this was a hit.

  10. Well whatever the Official Scorer calls it that's what it should be...since the brewers are appealing it...whatever the league calls it that's what it should be

  11. nope, thats a hit every time
