They named him as one of the top 3 MVP candidates on SC, and I thought this was an interesting take on the MVP race...

What do you think?

  1. I wouldn't put him there, since he hasn't even spent the full season in the NL.  Maybe I could give him the Cy Young, depeding on if he could keep this up for the rest of the year (he could be like Rick Sutcliffe in '84) and Brandon Webb slows down.

  2. well, i am a cleveland indians fan and most of cleveland misses cc sabathia.   That would be great if he could win it 2 consecutive years. As for the al, cliff lee is going all the way for the cy young award this year

  3. Accutally from the cardinals.  Ludwick is being considered.  But Sabathia,  oh thats a great one.  I needed a laugh this morning.

  4. http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?e...

Check out that link, the guy lists CC as a candidate along w/ Wright, Pujols, and Utley. he says webb has the Cy Young pretty much wrapped up because of his win lead and I have to agree, voters for Cy Young always looks at wins first hand. The guy says CC has a much better chance for MVP since he has been carrying the Brewers on his back.

Check out that link as well 4 more analysis on CC's value to the brewers.

In my opinion if he can win the rest of his starts, pitch a couple more CG's, and the Brewers make the playoffs (which seems likely at this point) then I think he DESERVES the MVP in my opinion. Not sure I would def hand it to him because i dont know how hitters are gonna hit the rest of the way, tho.

Right now, a lot of hitters that ahve had great seasons are on losing teams (Lee, berkman), Howard can't win it w/ that BA, no Cub has stood out enough to win it even tho some have some very good stats, Pujols has missed time and I don't think Cards are gonna make it. The only people I would personally pick over CC would be Wright and Braun, in that order.

But i'm pulling for CC winning MVP, i think pitchers don't get enough respect for that award.

  5. Not even a remote chance of that happening. Sorry.

  6. No Ryan Braun willl win it

  7. CY Young yes, Mvp is pushing your luck

  8. I don't know about that. They usually wouldn't give a pitcher the NL Cy Young if they only played half the year in the NL. I can, however, see CC getting the Cy Young if he got enough innings in.

  9. No way is he MVP. Yes hes been stellar but he hasnt even pitched a full season. Lets see how he keeps doing and if he continues to do well then I could see a top finish in the Cy Young race but no way does he deserve a MVP award. Theres much more deserving players.

  10. I really don't feel he deserves an MVP award.  I think there are position players out there that deserve it far more the Sabathia does (Pujols, Utley, Soriano, Hanley, Soto and Braun).  No pitcher should ever even be considered for an MVP award for the entire season, that's what Cy Young is for.  Had Sabathia played an entire season in the NL I think he would be a legit candidate for that award, but since he hasn't he shouldn't even be considered for that either.  If everything ges the way I think it will the Cy Young award will come down to Tim Lincecum and Brandon Webb.  Unfortunately I feel Webb will win it, but feel Lincecum is far more deserving of this award.

  11. C.C. Sabathia? If that was the case, then why not Manny Ramirez, NL MVP? No, sorry to burst your little bubble, but he's not going to be MVP.

Too bad he didn't pitch against the Dodgers. Probably would have got rocked by Manny like he did back in the American League.

  12. who were the other ones? and h**l no a pitcher should NEVER win the mvp since they only play in 1/5 of the teams games.

  13. Doubt it

A: Pitchers sedom win the Cy Young

B: Players who play half a yr in one league usually can't win MVP

    Who were the other 2?

  14. CC will not win the NL MVP.  He may win the Cy Young but definitely not the NL MVP.  I was curious you said they named him, who is they?  And they should think about position players.  Particularly Puljos, Utley, and Braun.
