Hi all, I have a CCJ which I have been ordered by the court to pay a set fee each month for three and a half years, at the time it all went through I was in some financial difficulty so I had no way paying it, however now I have come into a little money and I am trying to pay off my creditors and I would like to include my CCJ in that. What I would like to know is, once a CCJ is ordered by the court is that final? Can you ask for a settlement figure from the debt company you owe the amount to or is it too late for that now its a CCJ? Thank you in advance.

  1. No it isn't final, Talk to the CAB who will deal with this sort of issues

  2. no it isn't final, it'll have been sold on and the debt company will have added a lot of charges on, you could ask for a settlement figure but if they know that you have money now they will ask for the entire amount and will pursue this, bailliffs are a possibility. Really visiting thr c.a.b. is the best option as companies listen to them, or if you live in certain parts of the u.k. there is m.u.m.a.s.(mother's union money advice service), they come to your home and are not as religious as they sound, or ring debtline or a free debt service..cant think of the name of any now, but you should be able to google it. Good luck.

  3. Go to your local CAB. They're trained to deal with this sort of issue.

  4. Talk to the CAB who will advise the best way. You can settle a debt at any time. The court order if adhered to  simply keeps a creditor off your back.

  5. I would think the company you owe the money too would offer you a settlement figure and would be very happy to accept it, you would need to advise the court that the CCJ had been settled. If you rang the court that issued the CCJ they can tell you what forms to fill in if any. Also if the CCJ is less then 30 days old and you pay in full within that time it will not be recorded on your credit report. The court will have it wiped off.
