I was once a stupid little boy and paid the ultimate price and received 4 CCJs they are now all paid off and I have received certificates of satisfaction. They have been paid off for nearly 3 years. How do I remove them from my credit files totally?..Many Thanks

  1. You can't, they will be wiped after 7 years from when they were added to your credit report but you can't remove them even if paid. You can add a note to your credit report stating that you have repaid them though.

  2. Difficult.....

But here is how the "credit repair people" do it.

If you have recently moved, file a dispute with the credit bureau saying they are not yours. CCJ's are often not tied in with your social security number, but rather with address or whatever info the credit bureau can associate with the name.

By saying they are not yours (and you supplying a different address) it will require the bureau to investigate and prove it's yours. They are sloppy, and don't want to invest a lot of man hours researching this, so they will do the obvious.

-contact the court and pull the records.

-see the address is different....delete the record.

It's worth the stamp to send them a dispute and try. Having 4 judgments on your record is killing you.

  3. Before you paid them off, you were suppose to ask for a written agreement that if you settled your debt - they would in turn remove any negative information from your report. You may want to call and speak with the actual creditors to see if they will still consider doing so, but it may be too late.

  4. First, congrats on paying them off. Your report will reflect the zero balances owed and that will affect your score somewhat positively. Now, sit back and wait. The credit bureaus are quite simply a repository of your information (good and bad). You are stuck with it. You could try disputing but since the history reported is accurate there is little chance for a removal of the files.

  5. UK - they will be there for 7 years but marked paid - it doesn't matter about changing address it goes with your date of birth & NI number - been there done that etc.
