CD Burner? HELP Plz?

Question

im been tryin to burn a cd BUT when i go to WMP it says to "connect burner"and then i used my itunes to burn and it says "burner/software NOT found" ??? do i even have a burner on my laptop?? help and if i dont what can i do to get one and how much will it cost? thx

well its about 6 yrs old and its Compaq and the model Evo N1020v its old i know LOL all i know its a friend of a friend restored for me. thx

Strangely enough I couldn't find info on HP.com,(They bought out Compaq, and this where you go for info->Usually!)

This website, however, indicates it has a DVD-ROM drive, meaning it can only play DVD's, and CD's. No 'burner' capability for CD's or DVD's.

Probably not but u can try looking trough the Cd's u got with the computer for a driver software disk

sounds like you might not have a burner, check the disk drive to make sure it says cd r/rw  or dvd multi recorder or something like that, if it just says cd rom or dvd rom then it cant burn. you could buy an external drive somewhere like walmart or circuit city or best buy

also i agree, itunes and all other apple software is g*y. if you have an ipod use winamp, it is compatible.

Chances are that if it is 6 years old, your computer might not have a burner installed. If you want to check, you can look at the side of the computer where the CD drive is and see if it says Disc Rewritable.

Also, if you want to get a CD burner, and you dont want to install it, you can purchase one that plugs into your USB port, making it easier access.

You should get a Sony CD burner.  I think those are the best kind.

Unfortunetly, your model doesn't come with a burner.

It's an 8x DVD-Rom, which means that your laptop only plays discs.

You can take your laptop to a computer retail store (like Best Buy), and they can do the upgrade for you.

For a burner on a laptop, shouldn't be that expensive.

You should be able to find a good one for under $50.
