CD Chivas USA axe Francisco Mendoza to strengthen the squad - MLS News
CD http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chivas-USA-c38798 parted ways with the star winger Francisco “Panchito” Mendoza on Tuesday, the Goats management announced. Interestingly enough, the player has been offloaded in a bid to strengthen the roster with a new face.
The Chivas roster had no space and someone had to be let go to make space for a fresh face. The Mexican midfielder had struggled at the California-based outfit following his return to MLS after a one-year break, thus resulting in his exit.
“We just felt like it was time for us to go in a different direction,” said Fraser. “With us, we’re trying to make things as tight as possible at the end of the season and I got the impression that he wasn’t happy.”
The player made news in the preseason when Robin Fraser announced that Mendoza will again sport the red-striped Chivas jersey. However, unlike the previous three-year stint at the Goats, the player failed to make a mark in the current season. The Mexican
only managed to start two games for the club.
After leaving Chivas in 2008, Mendoza had joined Primera Division de http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Guadalajara-c39463, but was loaned back to the Rojiblancos this year.
The MLS outfit has been misfiring ever since the start of 2011 term. In desperate need of new faces to instil new spirit into the club, the head coach has brought in two players from lower divisions.
Mark Bloom, who plays for Charlotte Eagles in USL Pro, and Mattias Schnorf, currently with the Atlanta Silverbacks of NASL, have been brought in for trials at The Home Depot Center. Schnorf has also represented http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Switzerland-c3016 U-21 team.
Should either of the two succeed in making it to the Rojiblancos first team, he would have to serve as a centre-back for the two months that are left in the season.
However, Robin Fraser knows that it is a long shot that any of the aforementioned players will help the team to the postseason this time.
