CD/DVD Drive went bad and now i can reload the...

Question

Hey i have a 6200 Series i need to reinstall my operating system b/c its not allowing me to get on the internet and im sure its prob a corrupt file or something. My cd/dvd drive went bad a while back so i just use an external but unfortunally the recover disc wont boot from the external. I love my 6200 i have a new laptop now but i still want to keep just to do certain things on it i have added memey to it and all so i dont want to just throw it away. Can somebody please help me with a solution either some way i can change the drive without having to pay $125 for a replacement from the factory. Is there another drive that i can use or something please help me!!!!!
