CD/DVD drivers deleted from registry?

Hi! Recently purchased a toshiba laptop from best buy and while trying to delete a program, we think the CD/DVD drivers got deleted. Now the pc is not showing the CD drive, even when a disc is put in it. Is there something we can do from home to fix this or do you recommend taking up to our nearest geek squad? Thanks for any help you can give us!!
