CD Projekt Red, the developer that keeps on giving – Video Games Update
CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has revealed today that the developer is bringing out mod tools for the Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings PC version soon.
CDPS has stated on their official site that they will be having a closed doors press only event at Gamescom 2012 where they will be showing off the REDkit, which are the upcoming mod tools for The Witcher 2 Red Engine.
The release of Witcher 2 surprised many PC gamers last year as they game boasted gorgeous visuals and required a very high end system to run at the highest settings. Many gamers claim that the Witcher 2 is the Crysis of this generation and boasts the most
advance graphics available in gaming. The most surprising thing was that this was only CDPR’s second game, first one being The Witcher, and they had managed to put out one of the best looking games in 2011.
“We will be hosting a series of behind closed doors, exclusive media presentations where we will be showing the REDkit, a long-awaited set of tools for modders which will allow any player to create their own content for the PC version of The Witcher 2: Assassins
of Kings, such as new, non-linear adventures, great looking locations and much more,” says CDPR in an official statement on their website.
CDPR has stated many times that the company believes that downloadable content (DLC) for games should be free and they have lived up to their claims by releasing many add-ons for the Witcher 2 since the game’s release in 2011. After the success of the PC
version of the game with over 1.7 million copies sold, CDPR decided to bring the epic Role Playing Game (RPG) adventure to the Xbox 360.
The Xbox 360 version was called the Witcher 2: Enhanced edition and included a graphical makeover and some additional DLC. CDPR announced that gamers who had bought the PC version of the game would be getting the DLC found in the Xbox 360 version for free.
CDPR apparently is not done adding more content to their game as now they are bringing mod tools for PC gamers that will greatly increase the life of the game once user created custom content for the game hits the web. Gamers should wait until Gamescom for
more news regarding the REDkit for The Witcher 2.
