CD burner and possibly the CD Drive

Question

Inserted a blank CD to burn music to it and drive failed to burn and maybe even failed to recognize that it was there.  In the "My Computer" screen the CD was shown as present but the drive would not burn the CD.  It kept asking me to insert a blank into the drive.
