i am 20 years old and drive a yard horse/yard jockey/ yard switcher whatever you like to call it for roadway express........i dont have a CDL because im only a yard driver

i am going through the steps of obtaining a CDL right now.....i was wondering if anybody could tell me exactly what was on thier CDL written test? and what all you did for the on road test........i will be fine for the on road test (i drive the actual tractors in the yard all the time, not only the auto matic yard horse) but i am somewhat concerned about the pretrip inspection

  1. The yard test consist of a straight back,45 degree back and a blind side and vision side alley back. The written test is easy if you study the book. The pre-test was the hardest because all the steps had to be called off out loud as you were inspecting.Just a question did you realize that you are going to need the use of a truck and several hours of behind the wheel on road driving when you get your permit? You might be better off to just go to a CDL mill and get your license.I also forgot you have to wait until you are 21 to get your permit.

  2. Go get a CDL book, there are dozens of things listed on a pre-trip.
