CEO ADMM Richard Cregan terms Yas Marina Circuit very special – Formula 1 news
CEO of Abu Dhabi Motorsport Management (ADMM) Richard Cregan has termed the next stop of the Formula 1 calendar, the monumental Yas Marina circuit as “very special.”
The second last race of this season is scheduled to take place on November 13, 2011 at the Hermann-Tilke designed circuit that has already hosted three races since it was first built.
Despite the fact that both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships have been decided, the race will still be a treat to watch for all Formula 1 fans. For the teams and drivers, the hunt for wins has not ended yet as two more races still remain. The
drivers know they still have a chance to grab more points before this season ends and the teams are focused on testing technical upgrades which they can use for their next season’s cars.
Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing who has set the fastest lap time in the last two races, will not let go of his chances of making a hat-trick of setting the fastest lap time in the ongoing season.
The German can equal the legendary Michael Schumacher’s record of 11 wins in a season if he manages to make it to the winning step of the podium for the remaining two races of this season.
Cregan thinks the race at Abu Dhabi is going to be very exciting and feels that the event is going to be a huge success amongst fans and spectators from all around the world. He told that the ticket sale has been very good so far and it can hence be gauged
that there is going to be a huge turnout at the event, which is not something unexpected or strange.
It is worth mentioning here that in 2010, it was at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that Vettel clinched his championship title. While this year, the 24-year-old German will be driving at the Yas Marina Circuit, after earning the accolade of being the youngest
ever Formula 1 driver to achieve back-to-back victories.
The Yas Marina Circuit was popular for the longest straight that it had giving drivers an amazing opportunity to drive at a maximum speed but with the advent of Buddh International Circuit to the Formula 1 calendar, the situation has changed. The track,
however still boasts of providing some amazing overtaking opportunities, amid the announcement that there will be two DRS zones this time.
The Abu Dhabi GP, which is the penultimate race of this season starts next weekend. Let’s see how the teams fare at the twilight race at the Yas Marina Circuit on November 13, 2011.
