CEV indoor Satellite champions Kadziola, Szalankiewicz visit children in hospital
The winning duo of Michal Kadziola and Jakub Szalankiewicz from Poland, who recently showcased an outstanding performance at the 2012 CEV indoor Satellite beach volleyball tournament in Aalsmeer (Netherlands) and secured gold-ware, paid a short visit to
a local hospital as a goodwill gesture.
The duo was supposed to leave to Athens for a training camp but they generously took some time out and visited the department of oncology at hospital in the Polish capital City Warsaw. They spent time with children undergoing medical treatment and put a
lot of smiles on their faces.
The patient children and hospital staff seemed much delighted to see their country stars. Kadziola and Szalankiewicz were warmly welcomed at the hospital. They went into different rooms to meet the children. They somehow created a sporty environment in the
hospital and played volleyball with the children. They had already brought the gear with them such as a net, towels, balls, and toys.
The kids had a great time playing with the Kadziola and Szalankiewicz. They danced around and answered to the questions that duo asked them for fun. The players gave the children different gifts, which included the autographed mini balls. The children also
took pictures with the players and had a real good time. The players left after the photo shoot but brought a lot of good memories with them. They returned with a lot of good wishes and prayers for their upcoming beach volleyball ventures from the children.
Kadziola said, “Even though they are seriously ill, the kids surprised us with their nice attitude, stories and questions. They also enjoyed joining many games and contests and in the end they even danced with us. We hope to have the chance to come back
again and see these kids again.”
Szalankiewicz had the similar feeling and thoughts about the visit. In addition to the gifts, they also donated a part of the prize money which they earned by winning the CEV Satellite in Aalsmeer. Furthermore, the players will provide them an additional
contribution by selling their officials t-shirts of the tournament.
