  1. Think of the carbon in the center of a box and the F's at 4 corners, but adjacent corners. The bonds are ALL polar (towards F), but the molecule is not because of the symmetrical placement of the F's. Symmetry important in understanding NMR and inorganic complexes.

    as F is more electronegative than C

    structure of CF4 is tetahedral

    resultant of three C---F bond is in downward direction

    while fourth bond is in upward direction

    so they will cancel out with each other hence it is non polar molecule
