  1. Check out all your local adult talent out there - business owners that will entertain and allow your children to learn what's out there - library trips - ice cream shops - pizza shops - recycling center - greenhouse - bakery - hospital - firehouse - EMS - dentist - eye doctor - there are so many professionals out there who would love to have you visit with your children for one day.  Most professionals go all out and have gifts for the children and make them feel most welcome.  Have a great summer!

  2. take them to the local park

also depending where you live find out if there are any nature trails in your town they are free and the kids can hav lots of fun learning about animals and history of there town

take them to the library to pick out their favorite book

    or the local firehouse free

there is alot you can do with no money and if you have parent assitance or chaperones walking is free

  3. local parks, local book stores and libraries usually have 'story time' sessions you can sign up to attend.  also, check with your local spca, sanitation department, zoo, etc and see what resources they have that will come to you at your school.  here in va the spca will bring animals out and talk about pet care and adoption, the sanitation company here sends out someone to talk to the kids about composting, recyceling, etc.  take the kids fishing.  lots of kids never get to go fishing anymore.  our local art museum has a 'free day' each week that we went to.  make it fun.  give the kids a list of things to find.  fnd a picture with a house, a dog, a lady, etc.  have a camp out at your school on the playground.   not everything has to be a 'go and see' event.
