I have a 1994 Ford Ranger and the Check Engine light keeps coming on while I accelerate quickly or drive up a hill. It goes off after I slow down. The truck runs fine otherwise. Any ideas?

  1. Post the numbers from the check engine light, that will tell us a lot.

  2. Go to Autozone and have them check the engine codes with their obd2 scanner. That should tell you what is wrong.

  3. if it runs ok, then it,s probably the 02 sensor.

  4. You will need to get a scanner and pull a code.  It will tell you whats wrong.  You didn't mention what engine size, but the 3.0 and 4.0 liter have 2 O2 sensors, I am not sure about the 4 cyclinders.

  5. O2 sensor, but don't just change it. You need to check a lot of things. Fuel pressure, injectors, ignition. The O2 may go out of it's range due to a rich or lean mixture under load.

  6. you need to get the code. this web site will tell you how to get the code and what the code means
