Why does it seem that China is cheating at everything? A display of cultural weakness?

First they use computer generated fireworks that were shown on every TV screen around the world, then they have a little girl act like she is singing. And then they use little girls who dont even look close to 16 to win the gold. So far it seems China hasnt done anything without cutting some sort of corners. Them having to cheat at everything proves that they are not as strong as they want us to believe. This Olymics is a poitical statement to the world. They are stating..... "The United States is no longer the only super power." Personally, I agree with that statement, however, their blatant cheating and false actions displays weakness. China must think we are stupid. I know what a 16 year old looks like. Those little girls weren't even close to 16 and if you think they are, you are an idiot and know nothing about child development. As for Phillips the American swimmer taking enhancements? Is it possible? Sure.. I dont know. I dont understand the drug testing procedures very well. I'm sure he is clean now, however, was he tested randomly during the last four years of training? My American heart says he is and has not cheated however in this day in age... anything is possible. With that said.... China is in your face.... I dont care if I am caught.... type of cheating. That is even worse. What do you all think?

By the way... being able to field a gymnastic team with younger girls is an advantage. Younger girls are more flexible and lack the learned fear that comes along with years and years of training. Also I dont want to hear about "The USA needs to quit whining." If that is true heck with rules! Lets all just cheat since it doesnt matter if you do or not since it isnt right to complain about someone doing it. That way of thinking is just a load of c**p.

  1. oi american go have a cry. if u dont like the olympics then get ur athletes outta beijing.

  2. "face" as in putting on a "good face" or "saving face" may lie at the heart of the issue. if something appears to be true or can be made to look like it might be true, then it is ok, because many will believe it.

you call it "cheating." hmmm, when you wake up in the morning and wash and maybe shave or put on makeup and dress in clothing, are you cheating?

you cite examples of breaking rules. ok, it happens. but you are right that the failure to honestly compete is a sign of weakness. but maybe this is inherent in most human interactions. card players bluff, polticians lie and coverup, business people put out false ads, atheletes use performance enhancements, shoddy manufacturers produce faulty goods. why are you picking on the chinese?

maybe because the chinese have not learned all the skillful ways to make thier cheating less visible? maybe you are angry because the chinese think that they can mimic the western ways of constantly playing the game of one-upsmanship by underhanded means?

the bounds of acceptable behavior are always being tested. hopefully as a species we can advance and attempt to be a little more honorable in dealing with each other within the rules. this seems more of a hope than a reality at times. for many people, the chinese are behaving poorly, but i doubt that the chinese leaders and decision makers are capable of understanding that they are transparent in a rather ugly way.

hypocrisy and flaunting of commonly accepted norms are always brutal and short sighted. however, it takes the rest of us to say enough. the chinese are like the 800 pound gorilla who can sleep where it wants while the rest of us just sit there and watch with maybe a little bit of complaining. it is not only the chinese who cheat but the others who continue to turn a blind eye and pretend that it is not happening.

oh yeah, face no longer means that you can show your face honourably because everyone around you is wearing a mask.

  3. Lets see how good London puts on the show in 4 years time.

  4. My understanding was the fireworks were filmed beforehand, then added to the 'live' show and that it was a safety issue regarding helicopter flyovers.  The little girl 'singing' was supposedly 'cuter' than the one who actually singing.  That is NO DIFFERENT than what America would have done.  Right or wrong, big wig, media types don't put an ugly person on TV if they don't have to.  As for the gymnasts' ages, until it is PROVEN that they are underage, they won.  If and when it is proven, their medals will almost certainly be taken away.
