CLT20 2011: Mumbai Indians v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 - Toss Report
The stand in captain of Mumbai Indians, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453, has won the toss and opted to bat first in a Champions League T20 match against New South Wales at the M A Chidambaram stadium in Chennai today, October 2, 2011.
It is a hot and cloudless day in Chennai with playing conditions suitable for batting first. The sluggish wicket at the M A Chidambaram Stadium is expected to favour batsmen at the start but would slow down as the game progresses and run scoring would become
quite difficult in the latter half of the game.
However, previous four games played at this venue suggest that chasing had not been a big problem as three of the four matches were won by the side batting second.
Both sides have fielded an unchanged squad from their previous games. Hence Mumbai Indians have given another chance to 21-year-old Sarul Kanwar to prove his talent at the top of the order.
Mumbai Indians have come into the game after a rain curtailed match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cape-Cobras-c776 last Friday which forced them to share match points with the South Africans. New South Wales will take heart from their Super Over Win against Trinidad and Tobago last
week and must be eager to win the match and keep their hopes of proceeding to the next round alive.
Mumbai Indians are leading the Group A points table with five points, winning two of their three CLT20 games played so far. However, despite being the leading side in the group, the IPL side would have to win today to confirm a spot in the tournament semis.
New South Wales on the other hand, stand at the bottom of the group just above Trinidad and Tobago, and need to win today’s game in any case to keep their hopes of playing the tournament semis.
