CM Punk defeats Chris Jericho to prove ‘he is the best in the world’ – WWE News
WrestleMania 28 came with a lot of surprises. Some matches that were being thought of as the best in history went down the drain, while some of them actually turned out to be marvellous. Chris Jericho’s match with CM Punk for the WWE championship was an
ultimate piece of hardcore action. We saw Jericho giving out his best – not in terms of his fighting skills but his mind games on Punk. However, Y2J eventually lost to Punk, who finally regained his lost glory proving to the world that he indeed is the best.
The match had quite some shots where fans actually jumped off their seats. Throughout the match, Chris Jericho was trying to provoke Punk by insulting his family, trying to get Punk lose control. However, this time around Jericho’s mind games did not really
work and Punk kept his emotions intact. The thing was, if Punk had lost his control he would have been disqualified as it was said by John Laurinaitis, the General Manager of Raw and SmackDown. This was Jericho’s 11th WrestleMania match while the
5th one for Punk.
Jericho tried his level best to get Punk disqualified, especially when the latter picked up a steel chair to hit Y2J. Fortunately, Punk controlled himself and played smooth. Next in line was a GTS (Go To Sleep) for Jericho, which was good enough with high
impact yet Jericho successfully beat the count by keeping his leg on the lower rope.
After the GTS, Jericho was again in control of the show. He locked the Walls of Jericho on Punk. Good enough the grip was but Punk managed to crawl to the ropes. Next Jericho delivered a Codebreaker but Punk again stood up.
Punk was frustrated and so was Y2J but none of them could do any better. Punk tried going for another GTS but Jericho countered it and locked Punk again the Walls. However, this time Punk played smart, unlocked himself and locked Jericho in the Anaconda
Vise. Y2J struggled hard, even went near the rope but Punk got him again. Eventually the Rock n Rolla had to tap.
The end? The end is not just that Punk won. Punk also proved himself to be the better man and that Jericho’s time is over, as Punk had previously said.
