CME Group Titleholders: Suzann Pettersen says greens could get tricky
Norwegian Suzann Pettersen is ready to take on rivals at the CME Group Titleholders 2012, but she is aware how tough the greens may get.
The CME Group Titleholders 2012 is scheduled to be staged from November 15-18, at The TwinEagles Club, Naples, Florida, with the participation of key names such as current world number one
Yani Tseng, South Korean Inbee Park and Stacy Lewis.
No matter how strong the lineup may be, Pettersen is going to take a more careful approach this time.
Speaking to the LPGA (ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour during her pre-tournament interview on Wednesday, she said that it is short game that is going to decide the fate of players
this year, and she is fully prepared for that.
She said that good putting will play an important role in order to stay focused on the greens.
“These greens, they're huge. Kind of like I said, the biggest thing you've got to look at here is not try to be overaggressive,” said Pettersen who has won 10 LPGA titles since she turned
professional in 2000.
“You can always -- if you play all the shots from the center of the greens towards the flag, I think you'll be in good shape. I hope the wind picks up a little bit so it makes it a little
bit harder”.
Despite some tricky holes and big greens, the LPGA titan is happy to play at The TwinEagles Club. “I think it's a good course. I think the two sides are quite different. I think the front
side is a little tighter”.
The LPGA phenom surprised the golfing world in second half of the 2012 season after she racked up two back-to-back titles in Asia.
So impressive was her game that most of the top-ranked contenders started seeing her as a growing threat to resurgent Stacy Lewis who is performing good enough to trouble Asians.
Pettersen notched up the first title of the season at the LPGA Hana Bank Championship 2012 where she beat Scottish Catriona Matthew in playoff.
The Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship, which Asian contenders were favourite for, saw Pettersen continue her stunning form as she beat South Korean Inbee Park by three strokes.
Observers have said that the Norwegian star will have to push herself to the limits if she wants to put Europe in the limelight in the next season.
