CME Group Titleholders: Yani Tseng remains in a tight spot
Current world number one Yani Tseng remained under pressure in the second round of CME Group Titleholders as she posted a 73 to further dent her position on the leaderboard.
Tseng, who is being regarded as one of the strongest contenders at the season-ending event being played in Florida, failed to make a good start as she cared a 75 to stand tied for 63rd
position on the leaderboard.
Tseng, however, remained as jittery in the second round as she was in the first round and took the share of 49th position along with seven other contenders.
The top-ranked prodigy, who hails from Taiwan, has been struggling to get back to her winning form for the last six months, but the success does not seem imminent at the moment.
Tseng started the round on Friday in an unimpressive style as she carded two back-to-back birdies on the first two holes. It was a poor start in every sense, as most of the other lesser-known
contenders played well, capitalising on the favourable weather conditions.
Commentator said that the Taiwanese star has put herself in a tight spot, and now it will be an uphill task for her to make comeback in the match. With two rounds to go, most of the first-round
losers have already improved their positions.
Japanese Ai Miyazato, who was standing tied for the 16th position in the first round, bounced back on Friday as she registered a whopping 64 to take the solo lead.
Miyazato admitted that her performance was not that good in the first round, as she shot a 70. She said that her short game was not at its best, but she worked it out with the help of her
caddie and made a strong comeback in the end.
“Kind of a good stretch towards the end and I did really well on course management on these two holes, so I could get my round going,” she said while speaking to the LPGA Tour at the end of
the round on Friday.
“I've been dealing with my putting since last month and it just didn't go in last couple months, but I just say to myself just be patient and it's going to go in some day”.
