CN Canadian Women's Open 2012 looms large for struggling Yani Tseng
Current world number one Yani Tseng, who apparently has not come to terms with her soul-crushing defeat at the Evian Masters 2012, will definitely set her sights on the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 as she
desperately wants to get back on track.
Tseng, who boasts the most stunning profile on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, still has not lost hope, despite facing a series of defeats in the recent tournaments.
The CN Canadian Women’s Open is best known for staging tough battles among LPGA contenders, and playing in the event will mean that the Taiwanese prodigy is under scrutiny by her fans and critics.
The tournament is scheduled to be played from August 20-26, at The Vancouver Golf Club, with a field loaded with prominent faces. The question whether the top-ranked star is able to make a comeback will loom
large once the CN Canadian Women’s Open kicks off next month.
So far in the current season, the star performer has had mixed feelings. Her fans heaped praise on her after she grabbed three LPGA titles for the season. On the other hand, being winless since her last triumph
at the Kia Classic in March 2012 has shaken her so much that even her long-time admirers are left wondering whether she will get back on track this season.
In order to steal the show in Canada, Tseng will have to come up with a new plan. The still-fearsome golfer, who rarely felt under pressure — even in the most nerve-racking matches — has quickly lost her charisma.
The latest blow given to Tseng was when she bowed out of the Evian Masters 2012 after missing the cut. She displayed a grim performance in the first two rounds, as she posted a 76 and 71 respectively.
Analysts said that the Taiwanese star won the three tournaments of the current season in grand style — and her much-awaited fourth victory of the year is what is keeping her motivated.
So far, the struggling superstar is labouring without any triumph, and her performance in the latest tournament has exposed some fatal flaws in her game.
Although Tseng is struggling to prove her mettle once again, it does not mean that she is no longer competitive. With a solid work ethic and unmatched putting skills, the LPGA giant still strikes fear into
her rivals.
Despite losing by gigantic margins in some of the recent events, Tseng remains unhurt in terms of world rankings. Having stood firm on the number one position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings for the past
several weeks now, the golfing sensation still seems impossible to beat, as her points are huge enough to keep her rivals from coming close to her.
However, there are some players on the LPGA Tour, who are being regarded as a growing threat to Tseng. American Stacy Lewis, who will be putting her skills to the test at the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012,
has emerged as a key player on the Tour, with skills as perfect as any top player’s.
Lewis displayed an electrifying performance in the Evian Masters 2012, as she finished tied for the second position after posting an overall score of 273.
Lewis can pose a serious challenge to Tseng at the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, as she is in her best from these days.
On the other hand, there will be plenty of Asian players in the Canadian Open roster, who have made a name for themselves lately. One of the rising stars is South Korean Na Yeon Choi, who currently ranks third
in the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
