CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012: Chella Choi fires 64 to share lead in second round
South Korean Chella Choi stunned her rivals in the second round of the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 after she carded an explosive 64 to seize the lead along with Lydia Ko of New Zealand.
Choi displayed a superb performance on the second day of the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, being played at the Vancouver Golf Club, Canada, however, she could not take a solo lead because amateur Ko also played
well grabbing a share of the top spot.
Choi started her round on the first hole, but it took her some time to adjust to the weather conditions on the course. She parred the first five holes. The South Korean star judged the ball tactfully on the
par-5 sixth and made a solid birdie-putt to record her first score.
She sent the crowd cheering after she shot two back-to-back birdies on the 8th and 9th hole, cementing her position on the leaderboard. On the back nine, the LPGA (Ladies Professional
Golf Association) contender tried her best to remain in contention and kept the momentum going.
Most importantly, Choi avoided making any bogey in the round, which helped her surge past her rivals. Her performance on the back nine was nothing short of amazing. Although other contenders tried their best
to rattle the professional golfer, Choi stood her ground on most of the holes, not giving rivals room to surge past her.
The LPGA titan surprised her fans after she rattled off two consecutive birdies on the 10th and 11th. She parred the next hole and swung into action once again as she shot three straight
birdies on the 13th, 14th and 15th hole.
Speaking to the media about her second-round performance, Choi said that she is happy with her performance on Friday, but it would have made a big difference if she had avoided making mistakes on Thursday.
Explaining what kept her from showing her real skills on the first day, she said that she was not fully fit and played with an aching shoulder.
“Actually, my condition is bad yesterday and two days ago my left shoulder is hurting and very tight.  But yesterday I massaged it there, so my condition is better, and my shot and putting was a perfect day
today,” Choi shared.
