CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012: Na Yeon Choi tumbles one spot to tie for third in second round
South Korean Na Yeon Choi, who posted a stunning 67 in the opening round of the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, marred her score in the second round as she shot a 72 to move into a tie for the third position
along with three other contenders.
Choi displayed a tremendous performance on the first day of the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, being played at the Vancouver Golf Club, as she grabbed the second position. However, a couple of mistakes in the
second round made a dent in her hard-earned position, causing her to slip one spot on the leaderboard.
The LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournament is featuring a tough field containing stars like Stacy Lewis, current world number one Yani Tseng, Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis, Suzann Pettersen,
Brittany Lincicome, Angela Sanford, Vicky Hurst, Jessica Korda, Nicole Castrale, So Yeon Park, Azahara Munoz, Mika Miyazato, Karrie Webb, Shanshan Feng and Chella Choi of South Korea.
Choi faced a tough challenge from her rivals, but was determined not to surrender to her nerves this time. She knew that the only thing that could help her remain in contention was to avoid making bogeys.
However, despite her plans and aim, Choi could not avoid making bogey. She kicked off the round in impressive style as she parred the first five holes. She drained her first birdie on the par-5 sixth hole.
The par-3 seventh, which is one of the most difficult holes, proved real challenging for the South Korean golfer as she ended up bogeying it.
Choi’s performance on Friday was nothing compared with what she did on the opening day. Her putting looked far better on Thursday as she made the most of favourable weather conditions and made perfect strokes
on the back of good wind.
“My shot, my putter wasn't great like yesterday. I guess I dropped too much yesterday. But I think I'm still in a good position, and I have good patience. So hopefully a couple more drop tomorrow and Sunday,”
Choi said.
“This course I thought was going to be difficult for everybody, and I was surprised Chella Choi shot 8‑under par today”.
