CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012: Se Ri Pak can atone for her defeat in 2008
South Korean Se Ri Pak might have regretted losing the 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Open to Australian Katherine Hull by one stroke, but she can atone for that defeat when she comes face-to-face against her archrival at the 2012 edition of the prestigious tournament next month.
The CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 is slated to be held from August 20-26 at The Vancouver Golf Club, and is going to pit battle-hardened LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars against each other.
Pak may not be as strong a golfer as Stacy Lewis or Na Yeon Choi, but she has the courage and determination to improve her image and move up in the rankings.
Analysts said that the coming battle at Vancouver is going to be tougher than most of the contenders anticipate, as the recent changes in the Women’s World Golf Rankings reflect that the final outcome of any event is far from predictable.
However, they said that the South Korean star cannot be written off as an underperformer, as she has shown her critics in the past that she has what it takes to gain appreciation on the course.
Officials of the CN Canadian Women’s Open told the media that the field, which is yet to be finalised, is expected to feature almost all the top-ranked stars. Moreover, a large number of local players will also be gracing the tournament.
Among the key contenders, who have confirmed their commitment to take part in the event, defending champion Brittany Lincicome will be hard to ignore. Lincicome is expected to give a tough time to her rivals — just like she did last year.
Commentators pointed out that carving out a triumph at Vancouver will be an uphill task for the American prodigy, as the field is already awash with plenty of talented players.
However, Pak’s fans are impatiently waiting to see their favourite star putting her skills to the test next month.
Currently ranked 32nd in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, the 34-year-old golfer is now ready to make headway, as she has been winless since her last victory at the Bell Micro LPGA Classic in May 2010.
