CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012: So Yeon Ryu poses serious challenge to key LPGA stars
South Korean So Yeon Ryu, who clinched a victory at the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012 in grand style, is all set to take on rivals at the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, scheduled to start next week at The
Vancouver Golf Club, Canada.
Ryu has proved her worth in the last LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) battle that saw her beat all her rivals, and she is confident to make another major breakthrough in Canada next week.
The South Korean star might not have been able to beat players like current world number one Yani Tseng or American Stacy Lewis in terms of world rankings, but she has what it takes to carve out another victory.
Analysts said that Ryu will likely be grabbing much of the attention at The Vancouver Golf Club, as she is in high spirits now and has already vowed to continue her winning form in the coming tournaments.
Although the field will be almost the same as the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012, Asian stars are expected to stun the golf world once again. Yani Tseng, who has been seeking to cast off her image as an underperformer,
will be putting her best foot forward in order to regain her lost glory.
Other tough contenders who may pose a serious challenge to the LPGA titan include Stacy Lewis who currently ranks second in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, Paula Creamer, Suzann Pettersen, Natalie Gulbis,
Cristie Kerr, Na Yeon Choi, Chella Choi, I.K. Kim, Shanshan Feng, Mika Miyazato, Brittany Lincicome and others.
Speaking to the media at the end of the concluding round at Ohio, Ryu said that she has improved her game to a great extent and now she is more confident than ever before.
Attributing her victory to good putting skills, the South Korean golfer said that her solid strokes helped her remain in contention till the final moments of the tournament.
“Actually, I like the hottest day, so I think that's why I'm playing great today. Actually I don't like cold weather. I like hot weather. Today the weather is really warm, so the ball was going a little
farther. So today my drive shot was really great,” she said.
“I was a little more comfortable to make a great second shot. So the warm weather helped me a lot”.
