CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012: Yani Tseng back to uneven form in second round
Struggling Yani Tseng was back to being edgy again after she finished the second round of the ongoing CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 as she tumbled from the top to 10th position after carding a 75.
The CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, being played at the Vancouver Golf Club, saw Tseng exude a mixture of joy and disappointment in the first two rounds, however, the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association)
star said she is not going to give up without putting up a tough fight.
Tseng currently ranks number one in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, but her grim performance in recent tournaments has taken a serious toll on her overall reputation. The top-ranked prodigy is now seeking
to cast off her image as a player vulnerable to pressure.
Tseng got off to an electrifying start at the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 at the Vancouver Golf Club as she carded a 66 to grab an early lead. However, her performance looked shaky on Friday and she could
not make good strokes on most of the holes.
Commentators said that getting off to a solid start got her fans’ hopes up and they started to convince themselves that the current world number one has finally put an end to her lacklustre form. However, what
she did on Friday proved a little troubling for Tseng herself and her die-hard fans.
The Taiwanese star looked confident when she kicked off the second round but she started to lose momentum after she carded a double bogey on the hardest par-3 third hole.
On the back nine, all she could do was to make her second bogey.
Despite having slipped to the 10th position from number one on the leaderboard, Tseng appeared calm as she expressed confidence in her game. She said while speaking to the media that she is still
in contention and will bounce back in the next two rounds.
“I didn't play terrible today. I just did one double. If I'm not in the water and I finish one over, I'm still in pretty good position. But with 3‑under, I still have two more days to go and hopefully next
two days I can fight back a little bit,” Tseng said.
“On 3, that is the only best shot I hit today, and I didn't make any birdies today. I probably left them yesterday”.
