CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012: "We are thrilled with the field," says Tournament Chair
Tournament Head of the CN Canadian Women’s Open Paul Batchelor has said that upcoming battle at Vancouver is going to feature a solid field, pitting top-ranked LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars
against each other.
The CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, which is set to be played from August 23, at The Vancouver Golf Club, has gained plenty of media attention days before its start as the field is expected to feature a field
packed with almost all the known stars on the LPGA Tour.
Speaking to the media about what he thinks of the roster for the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, Batchelor said that he is more than happy to see so many talented and big names in the field of Canada’s most
prestigious professional tournament.
He said that the presence of top-ranked contenders will help tournament officials gain media attention and a large number of spectators are expected to flock to the venue this year.
According to the officials, the field of the LPGA event will not only feature American, Asian and European contenders, but presence of sixteen Canadians has also increased fans’ interest.
Batchelor said that the fans at Vancouver are impatiently waiting to see their favourite stars unveil their skills on the course, but he was keen to point out that Canadian contenders will definitely grip the
spectators’ attention.
The CN Canadian Women’s Open Head went on to say that although most of star performers will show up at the Vancouver Golf Club, but the absence of some key players will be missed.
“We are thrilled with the field. The only one we would have liked to have seen who won't be here is Se Ri Pak, who is going to miss through injury. We expected a strong field, the women love to play in Canada
and they love this event,” Batchelor said.
Sharing his thoughts about the course, Batchelor said that players will surely enjoy playing the fairways and putting green as the entire Vancouver Golf Club is in a far better condition than ever before.
“The only thing we are hoping for is maybe a little bit of evening showers to help the rough get up. It up around two-and-a-half inches right now, but we'd like to see it a little higher to try and get it to
about three-and-a-half inches for the tournament".
