CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 to feature top amateur players
The CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, which is scheduled for August 20-26 at The Vancouver Golf Club, will be featuring a number of amateur and Canadian stars.
According to the officials of CN Canadian Women’s Open, this year’s edition will not only pit top-ranked LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars, but also new faces that occasionally grace professional
tournaments.
Lydia Ko from New Zealand is on the top of the list of amateur players, as she is going places these days. Other key amateurs confirmed to participate in the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 include Canadian Brooke
Henderson and Jisoo Keel.
Officials said that having amateurs on board for the prestigious tournament is a step being appreciated by golf crazy fans in Canada and across the world. They hoped that the presence of new faces will spice
up the event.
In addition to amateur players, the 156-player field will also feature a number of Canadian players. On the top is Lorie Kane, who is regarded as the most talented player in the country.
Moreover, Maude-Aimée LeBlanc, Alena Sharp and Rebecca Lee-Bentham will also be starring in the much-hyped tournament.
Officials further said that the field has not been completed yet, and it is expected that more top-ranked players will be joining the field soon. They informed that the final date for contenders to confirm
their commitment for the match is August 14, 2012.
Speaking to the media about the field, Sean Van Kesteren, Tournament Director of the CN Canadian Women’s Open, said that he is pretty happy to see many new faces and experienced players in the roster, and he
hopes that the Canadian spectators are going to see an interesting battle among professional contenders.
According to the details, the players who recently confirmed their commitment to grace the prestigious tournament include South Korean Na Yeon Choi, who is performing well in the current season and racked up
her first major title at the US Women’s Open 2012.
On the other hand, American Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis and Lexi Thompson are among the players who have recently been confirmed for the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012.
In addition to that, the current world number one Yani Tseng and defending champion Brittany Lincicome have already made it to the roster.
