CNA Question -- Cath Care?

I am going to take my CNA test state exam here in MI soon. I cant remember if I need to clean the tube of the catheter with a soapy cloth as well as with a wet one for rinsing. I only remember my teacher doing it with a wet cloth (on a manican). Or maybe Im mistaking or she was in a rush so she could fit everybody in to get the skill done. The class was fairly large and we didnt get to keep our book to look back at for a reference. So I seemed little crammed to me. And I didnt get to do 2 hands-on skills cuz we didnt have time :( We also, completed the class May 23rd. The earliest I could take my state exam is July 2nd. Thats why Im a little confused. So, can any one tell me if I have to use soap as well.

  1. Yes, you do use soap. Make sure you wipe the cath.away from the body not to the body cause you could introduce bacteria into her body that way. Then get just a wet cloth and repeat the procedure. Then dry all areas with a clean dry cloth.
