Question:

CO2 for house plants?

We have a small room with a hot tub that we have some tropical plants in. In the winter there just is not enough sun light so we use grow lights to try to give these more light, but I have been told that they just are not getting enough co2 to do well.

Is there a way to inexpensively add co2 to this room? I thought about buying cheap soda and with the room sealed up, release the co2 by opening the bottles, would that help?

  1. I'm sure it would take A LOT of soda bottles to release even a feasible amount of CO2 into the atmosphere of that room.

You could just pack a lot of people (as is humanly possible) into the small room - I'm sure that way would be much more effective than soda bottles! And it also gives you an excuse to invite friends round :)

  2. your plants are fine as far as c02 intake with your family in the house breathing, i would just go to home store and buy some fertilizer. or other types of plant food. you could even buy some earthworms and release them into the planter. they would create natural food for the plant better than c02 idea promise. good luck
