COLLINGWOOD'S Draw whats the Problem ?

Big Kev in another answer here say's , in one statement "I haven't checked the draw as yet" then finishes by saying Collingwood, how bloody ridiculous, suggesting their draw should help them to a top 2 finish. All I can say is Big Kev its YOU who is bloody ridiculous.!! The Pies are involved in blockbusters from rounds 3 to 12. From R3 they play 3 of their traditional rivals in 4 games , if ya cant see any pressure there you should be playing marbles not following AFL. they then follow up with consecutive games against Haw, St.K, Gee, WCE, Melb, and Carl again . which is easy ? First Up its Freo (up & coming) then Bris away , the team that won 3 consecutive flags this decade! Geez Big Kev , Adelaide what, 2 blockbusters a year agst Port is it ? You come on here in a public forum without FACT'S, obviously your a sponge short of cream. Like your odd little tennis player, Adelaide supporter say's ...COME ON ! Big Kev .

  1. Leave Big Kev alone.  He is a good bloke. Your story sounds like complete c**p.

  2. Deedub, if you say things like "Collingwood is and always will be the backbone" people will fire up. You arent THAT big. All people are saying is it seems every year Collingwood has to travel less than other Melb clubs. I really don`t care that much.

A Premiership team will win anywhere!

  3. 7 friday night games, sydney was in 2 grand finals in a row and they have none

  4. OMG!!!!!

    I can't believe this...I really can't.

I LOVE AFL,but would never ever get into the political side of it.

Who cares what draw a team got compared to others.

At the end of the day all teams will play each other.

Just sit back guys ,take a breather, grab a VB and enjoy the game.

    GO KANGAS!!!!!! xo

Thanks for the entertainment anyway!!! lol

  5. I don't care about collingwood, because those punks don't need to travel as much as other teams. And you can never predict if you've got a tough draw until the season starts. Who knows how good teams will be next year.

  6. Big Kev is right 14 games at the MCG ,one interstate game before July and the first five games against those that finished in the bottom 8 and only one game against the premeirship teams if Collingwood can't win the GF after that cushy draw they will never win it.

  7. Ummmm just bring Licca back...my fav eye candy has gone!!

  8. Collingwood's home ground is the MCG we are in titled to 11 home games just like every one else we share the MCG with 3 other clubs with Essendon and Carlton having such big followings The MCG is the only ground that accommodate the crowd that is why we have 14 games at the MCG

Now on to all these whinging sods from interstate you joined an expanded Victorian based league true or false you get 11 home games like every one else and 11 away games like every one else so you have to travel at least 10 times a year Collingwood just happens to be in the same state as over 50% of the other teams get over yourselves

  9. Boyz!  I've had to tell you before and this is your last warning.  Use your nice words.  And "Pansy" and "sugar-puff" won't qualify OK. :-)

Nice to see some spark in here at last.  We've all been agreeing horribly!

Now let's see, there are six interstate teams and Collingwood has only drawn four of them to play away.  Oh well, that happens.

As for the G.  Well Collingwood against anyone is almost certain to fill the G if the teams are in form so why not?  It's only a pretend home ground anyway.  Richmond, Melbourne and Carlton are all using it as a de-facto ground too aren't they?  I'd sooner play away at the G than at home - I'm sure glad I don't have to fight for tickets at Kardinia for that clash.  I'm only miffed that Cats-Pies only have one game.

... but what's it matter really, it's not like they're gonna win the flag.  It's only Collingwood!

  10. Everyone go get a life and stop the childish dummy spit and whinging. And before I go any further.. keep in mind that no I am not a Collingwood supporter.

All teams are entitled to 50% of their games at home. Pies, Bombers home ground is the MCG. Richmond used to be there as well -not too sure if still are. This means that when cwood play away to Ess and the other MCG co-tennants they will in effect be playing at home but Essedon gets the same deal..... courtesy of some smart mangement at those clubs.

The AFL needs as much income as possible and will always play "popular" sides at larger venues so as to get as many through the gate as possible- they are not likely to schedule Collingwood who pull big crowds (even in the bad years when they were loosing all of the time) at small capacity grounds and probably not interstate unless absolutely necessary as fewer supporters can travel interstate and it risks the gate takings. One of my immediate relatives is a Cwood member and we regularly argue over which team is getting the better deal etc... and I would have to say that in one of the last couple of years I really thought that they had it cushy being rostered to play most of the bottom eight sides twice... but it turned out that the bottom sides were big improvers and frankly I do think they got it rough as I think that they also had injuries, but over at Ess we ended up playing top eight sides that were definitely on the way out- and the worst of them twice.

So little children, remember that over time every thing evens out, there will be good draws and bad draws, good years and bad years, some dud draft picks and brilliant ones, but in the end everyone will go through the good and the bad.

But I also suggest to the interstate kiddies that if you choose to come and play in someone elses back yard (as the interstate teams are) you really cant expect preferential treatment and will have to play by the neighbourhood rules. If not, then get your ball and go home.

  11. Deedubya, you make and excellent argument, its a shame there wasn't a more informed response other than mud-slinging.

At the end of the day, every non-Magpie supporter is going to whine and complain.  They fail to realise that WE bring in the big bucks to the AFL, WE get the biggest crowds at the MCG, and WE keep the excitement of the game alive.

Bring on the Collingwood blockbusters I say!!

  12. Are you COLOUR BLIND? Do you only see Black & White?

You have spoken/written like a typical whinger. Are you in love with Eddie and Nathan Buckley as much as Joffa does. Wait a minute....Are you Joffa? you gotta be Joffa, dude you have a serious problem, you got to get rid of that jacket, now that's ridicolous.

And to colin b..... I am not the one whinging here, its your mate... deedyaba that's doing all the whinging.

All I mentioned.... was Collingwood should make the top 2, with the draw they have. You don't have to give me a whole lot c**p because you are standing by Collingwood's draw.

Let's see 18 games in Victoria, 4 ouside Victoria. 14 games at The G, 4 games at the Dome. Besides Carlton and Essendon (4 games outside Victoria), the rest of the Victorian sides have to travell more times. Look at the Bulldogs, 7 games outside Victoria, Melbourne 6 games, St Kilda 6 games,Richmond 5 games, Kangaroo's 8 games, Hawthorn 8 games, Geelong 5 games.

Collingwood seems to have the least amount of travelling each season. That's is ridicoulous. That is WRONG.

You are so blind, are you that one eyed, that you can not see beyond the point of reality. Man, you are in a world in your own league.

Yes, The AFL has taken over from the old VFL, it is now Australian Football league not Victorian footy. If it was not for the interstate clubs, the VFL would be in dire straits and be long gone.

  13. Now come on you two.........

You can't really count the home games that clubs choose to play elsewhere as "having" to travel. They choose to play games at Manuka, the Gold Coast, TIO and  Aurora to try and get better gate takings and increase their following in those areas.

As Ray said, there isn't really a home advantage for Melbourne clubs playing each other at the MCG and they would be mad to give up the huge amount of money they get from the big games.

When it comes down to it if you are good enough to win the comp then you should be able to win against any team, anywhere.

  14. without getting right into this debate, ill just say Adelaide with 11 home games and westcoast with 12 home games are basically guaranteed a finals berth with the distinct home ground advantage they have where as collingwood v any other Vic side at the G there is no home ground advantage so it sort of evens its self out -that's all I'll say

  15. As usual Collingwood got the best of the draw.

  16. ummmmmmmmm...
