  1. Have you tried local churches, animal shelters, community centers, or Care Houses?

Places like that which are non-profit may let you help regardless of age.

  2. It will be tough to get 10 hours so quickly.

The American Red Cross of Central Florida has youth programs. The Clubs and Teen Corps do community service projects. I'm not sure you'll be able to get 10 hours by January 31, but I know Teen Corps meet most Saturday......you'd need to consider committing to them for at least the rest of the school year......but you might really like it.

Some High Schools have American Red Cross Clubs

If you are still in Middle School or if your school does not have a Red Cross Club, then take a look at Red Cross Teen Corps:

  3. Visit the following website. They have lots of ideas...

    www.doonenicething.com

I would think that nursing homes would allow you to go. That's what I did every summer as a teenager.

  4. YOU SHOULD TRY A LOCAL CHURCH OR EVEN SCHOOL'S SOMETIMES HAVE COMMUNITY SERVICE IDEAS!

  5. VolunteerMatch (http://www.volunteermatch.org), Idealist (http://www.idealist.org), Change.org (http://www.change.org) and CraigsList (http://www.craigslist.com) all list volunteering opportunities with thousands of organizations. There's also this government sponsored site (http://volunteer.gov/gov/) which provides volunteer positions through USA federal land agencies like Fish & Wildlife, Forest Service, National Parks, etc. Also, contact your local volunteer center; you can find this via the Points of Light Foundation web site (http://www.pointsoflight.org/centers/).

And your community of faith (church, temple or mosque) can also hook you up with a service opportunity.
