Question:

COMPUTER WIZARDSSSSSSSSS?!?!?!? BSoD 10points?

I asked this question about 50 times.

I get a million different answers and no one understands that I CANNOT download/go into control panel etc etc because the blue screen keeps coming up. With that being said I cannot do safe mode or any of that.

I really need help! My computer is useless.

I tried using the Operating System CD and nothing pops up for it and it's just the same blue screen.

Here's what I copied from my previous question:

When I try do any of the Safe Mode options or go back to Last Good Configuration, the BSoD keeps returning.

I have looked on a few sites for troubleshooting but they just assume that you can get your computer into one of those modes.

My STOP is: 0x0000008E

And it says something about win32k.sys- Address BF803EB6 base at BF8000000, DateStamp 47e0e106

It would be great if you could give me advice on what to do with that specific stop error code but any help is appreciated!

Thanks!!

I really need help.

I'm extremely frustrated and have been working on this ALL DAY.

Thank you to anyone who answers this.

  1. I believe that you have bad ram

rather than the normal ram it might be the ram on the graphics card

0x0000008E often suggests bad ram but win32k.sys normally refers to bad drivers. This is why I think that the graphics card ram is possibly faulty.

to verify the normal ram download and run a copy of memtest.

set the pc to boot from cd

Another handy hint is to download a linux live cd, eg ubuntu. These run a linux opperating system from the cd (and ram). They are very useful for trouble shooting bad windows instalation. As they are not loaded onto the harddrive you can elimainate the possiblity of the problems being software (OS) related.

If either the ram is bad or the graphics card then they will fall over whilst you are using ubuntu. You will have proof that your windows install is ok. You might need to download the linux drivers for the graphics card so that you can thrash it about- in the name of testing...

If the normal ram is bad you will need to replace it. Take one stick out at a time (when the pc is turned off) and reboot to see if things are any better

if it is the grahics card then try to reinstall the drivers, if this doesn't work then bin it...

  2. That sounds like what we like to call, " the blue screen of death" its similar to those xbox rings because it might stop working. If it keeps coming up like this you might want to call the manufacturer or get yourself a new computer.

  3. There's a fix for the problem, but it requires that you can run Windows.  So your only option is to completely reinstall Windows.  Put in the Windows CD.  Turn the computer off.  Wait about 5 seconds.  Turn the computer on.  Install Windows.  Let the installation format the drive when it asks.

If you don't have a Windows CD you're going to have to buy one, or find a repair shop that will do it for you.

(And download ALL the drivers for that computer from the manufacturer's web site - use this computer, it seems to be working.  Put them on a CD or a flash drive.  You'll need them after you reinstall Windows - at least to get back on the internet, probably for your sound card, video card and maybe some other hardware.  Look on the manufacturer's site, or post the computer make and model hare and someone will be able to post a link for you.)

  4. Try removing the the CMOS battery or replacing it.  Don't know why, but it sometimes seems to work on these symptoms.  If you have the CD and can't get to it, try getting to the BIOS menu and make sure it is first on the bootlist.  Once up, you can try a system restore from a previous restore point and may get lucky.  Otherwise you'll have to either load the system over the top or brand new all together.  Either way this is a quick and easy thing to try and if it's already broke, you can't broke it more, right?  Good Luck!!
