  1. you asked: What is the difference between a CONDO and a TOWNHOUSE?

Condo or Condominium is a term that refers to the "type of ownership" and Townhouse is a term that describes the type of building or structure.

So the words Townhouse and Condo are not interchangeable - a townhouse is just a type of building where many homes are joined together (sometimes called a Row House)  and a Condo is a type of ownership

example: A townhouse might be owned with common areas having a shared ownership as a Condo,  or it may be owned totally by one owner as a "freehold"

Many types of property in theory can be owned as Condos like; apartments, or townhouses, even single family home structures can be owned by a Condo Corporation.

Now...  keep in mind all these terms and rules depend on where YOU live (your local real estate laws) so you may want to get the most accurate info from someone in your town.

    cheers !
