CONNECTING LAP TOP TO TV

ok i have the right 15 pin cable to connect tv to lap top. i switch all off plug in an switch on again and change to thr prop channel and....... nothing, am i meant to change settings on the lap top. pls help

Yes. You will need to go into the display options of your laptop and set it up for multiple monitors. (the built in screen counts as one) Depending on the graphics card built into the latptop, the menus to do this will vary.
