  1. For a negative take on Conservation look at economic isuses( what if a factory shuts down when it stops cutting down trees). How some developing Nations rather have money then help the environment. Make sure you focus on the benifits of a strong economy over conservation( why save the earth for my kids when there hungry now.)

  2. I am not sure about where you live, but here, our local recycling program strongly resembles Huck finn's idea of painting the fence. FIRST they charge you to have a recycling bin, THEN if you recycle too much, there is another surcharge. AND all this is so they can sell it someone else for even MORE money! I would love to recycle, but i am not about to blackmailed into it.

Also, I can't afford it. I tried one of the new incandescent bulbs and i am fairly certain this will spawn a new breed of humans stricken with albinism due to the lack of light! They are more expensive to purchase, and if i used them in all the fixtures in the house, i would still need a flashlight to see anything. Same goes for the new Hybrid and Alternative fuel vehicles. Idunno about you, but I can't afford to buy a car every time someone comes up with a new gimmick to save another mile per gallon, nor am i willing to trade in a perfectly good looking pickup for one of these ideous little go-karts that i can barely see under my mirrors.  the main reason these don't do 60 is because noone could survive a wreck at that speed in one. (there are a lot of other factors, such as the power to weight ratio of batteries etc. but i still feel that these fully electric cars are unsafe, after all just because some of them cannot go over 45, that doesn't mean someone in a 76 Buick ain't gonna nail em when they least expect it.)

  3. Private property rights and the Takings Clause - as in, if an old woman saved up her whole life to buy beachfront property and build a home to retire in, and you declare that she can't build on the land because there's a piping plover that flies overhead once a year, thus devaluing the land by 90%, you have to pay her the difference.

Or, the simple fact that in many instances it costs more - which means it uses more resources, just not the same resources - to recycle than to make something new out of raw materials - - paper is a prime example.

Or, the fact that paper is, in fact, a renewable resource.

  4. there probably is a statement that you're supporting, or arguing against.

and i sure hope that's not it in your title.  or text.

    are we supposed to guess?

the primary reasons are that people are too busy with other things, or like their life style, and do not want to change.  many would like to believe those that tell them it's not a problem, to justify their actions to themselves.  clearly, if you look around you, you cannot see waste.  people have always used trash cans, and there will always be trash.  besides, in some areas, the burn the trash, so none of it is really wasted.

but then again, that may not address of the statement that you didn't post.

  5. man you picked the short side of the stick. Why don't they make you debate whether the n***s are good.

  6. I think that many people do not conserve because they are confused on the issue, don't know how or do not realize how much what they do makes an impact.

  7. 1. See No results

    2. NO Incentives

    3. Too much EPA rules

    4. Too much Regulations.

    5. NOT enough recycling

    6. NO alt fuels developed

    7. Taxes, taxes, Taxes

    8. NO Natl Plan.

    9. NO Tax credits for.

    10. Bis Business wont do it, why should I.

    11. NO celebs do this, why should I.

    12. Media hype

    13. Al Goreaphobia.

    14. EcoLies.

    15. NO Value.

    16. NO backup plan

    17. NO Eco Visions.

    NO to Conservation, prove otherwise.

    Give me Reasons for.

  8. Global Ethics, what right does mankind have to intervene with the cycle of nature.  this planet has evolved over time with the one rule, survival of the fittest, every spieces must either overcome and adapt, or face extinction.

what right does any man have trying to preserve any spieces that can not keep up with the ever evolving world.

  9. 1.  Cost.    Some people see anything with a cost as bad.  This ignores the long-term benefit where the up=front cost may be expensive.  They only look at the short-term cost.

    2.  Confusion about requirements - it is actually pretty difficult to understand and implement some EPA regulations which are intended to protect the air and water from pollution.  (This was part of my last job.)  If they don't understand, they won't try to make things better, or they'll do it the wrong way or in a way which doesn't help the next guy do his part.

    3.  No immediate gratification.  Many conservation programs are designed for long-term success.  Such as the restoration of bald eagle habitat and their health by elimination of DDT as an approved pesticide.  This success did not happen over night.

    4.  Lack of education - not enough money and time is spent teaching our children and citizens what conservation means.  They don't do anything because they don't see the problem or they don't see how thier actions make it better or worse.

    Good luck
