  1. You've GOT soup there:)  If your cats wouldn't mind, you could also add some carrots, onions & parsley to the broth when you boil the chicken:) ...If you refrigerate the cooled broth, the fat will congeal on the top and you can just scoop it off.  Then you can add some chopped cooked chicken (if they'll let you have a little:), sauteed onions & carrots and parsley;  salt & pepper to taste.  After it's hot, you can either add some noodles in to cook, or drizzle some beaten egg into it (like egg drop soup)....... Chicken broth is also excellent to use when you make mashed potatoes!  Or, use the broth instead of water when you make rice

  2. Add finely chopped onion, celery, carrot, salt and pepper to taste maybe a little garlic if liked, and a small spoonful of rice.........then simmer, and Voila !!!.........Chicken and vegetable soup !.............Yummy!

  3. Only a few steps away from chicken noodle soup or chicken and rice soup.  When you add chicken to cook it in the water why not add 1 small onion sliced, 1 carrot sliced, 2 stalks celery sliced, 2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1 bay leaf (optional), and a couple tsp parsley flakes. When you add the water to the pot, add chicken first, and enough water to just cover chicken so the broth doesnt turn out weak.  Bring all to a boil, then turn down heat and simmer for 45 min.  When done take out chicken and strain the broth through a cheese cloth or a colander to get all the vegetables out and throw them away. Take chicken off the bone and give some to cats and save some as well. Now you have yummy chicken broth to freeze to use later in recipes or use right away for chicken noodle soup using the chicken you just pulled off the bone. Or you can put leftover chicken in fridge and use in other recipes like a casserole.

  4. Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

    3/4 cup all purpose flour

    1/2 tsp dried thyme, divided

    1/4 tsp salt

    1 egg yolk

2 cups plus 3 Tbsp. cold water, divided

    1 Pound skinless chicken thighs

    5 cups chicken broth

    1  medium onion, chopped

    1 medium carrot, sliced

3/4 cup frozen peas, thawed (optional)

    1. Mix flour,1/4 tsp thyme, and salt in a bowl. Beat egg yolk with 3 Tbsp water in another small bowl;add to flour mixture. Stir until well blended. Shape into ball. Place dough onto lightly floured surface; flatten. Knead about 5 minutes or until dough is smooth and elastic, adding more flour as necessary. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap; let stand 15 minutes.

2.Roll out dough to 1/8 inch thickness on lightly floured surface with rolling pin. Let rolled dough stand about 30 minutes to dry. Cut into 1/4 inch wide strips; cut strips 2 inches long. ( I use a pizza cutter for this part)

    3. Place the chicken thighs and remaining water in sauce pan. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium, cover and simmer 5 minutes. Drain and rinse chicken; let cool. Remove meat from bones and discard bones. Cut chicken into 1/2 -3/4 inch pieces.

    4. Mix chicken broth, carrot, onion, and remaining thyme in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil over high heat. Add noodles. Reduce heat to low;simmer uncovered 8 minutes or until noodles are done. Stir in chicken pieces and peas. Bring soup to a boil and serve. Refridgerate or freeze any left overs.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

  5. I have Corningware heat-proof bowls.  Put the broth into a bowl and refrigerate.  After an hour, you can remove the solidified fats on top of the broth.  This broth will keep refrigerated for a few days.  Use it to make soups or boil potatoes.  Very flavorful.

  6. After you de-fat the broth, boil it down (s-l-o-w-l-y after it gets lower in the pot so it won't scorch) and after you have gotten it to the point you like, you can store it for a longer time in the fridge.

Chicken broth can be used for almost anything you can use water for - it will just increase the flavor.

  7. first feed the cats, then season it if you want, defat it , reduce it for a more intense flavor... then have some fun! Remember, people buy chicken broth at the store..they spend big bucks for yor "cat food" by product :-)

of course,  you can add whte meat,  vegis & noodles for home made chicken soup or thicken it and make chicken & dumplins

Use it instead of water to make:

    * any steamed vegetables

    * make rice & serve as a side dish

    * boil your potatoes in it, then mash

    * use it instead of water to make a can of chicken noodle chicken &     rice, vegetable or tomato soup

    * freeze it in ice cube trays, then transfer to large baggies

    * use frozen broth at will, for seasoning, making gravy or your stuffing at Thanksgiving
