Question:

COPD patients, best way to cope with nasty COLD or FLU???

Please need help for someone in my family who suffers from COPD and has this really bad cold which I'm almost sure is either the FLU itself or is loaded with different viruses because I was the first to have it and it seemed a normal cold until about the fourth or fifth day in which it turned very bad and it made me feel as if I'd been run over by a locomotive!

I feel sorry that this person has gotten it now and there was really no way I could have avoided her getting it.

How could I keep her hydrated and make her sleep better?

Those are the two things I'm concerned about because she's had pretty bad episodes in these past few years and this flu will cause its damage for sure.

  1. All I can say is keep a close eye on her and if it gets bad, take her to a doctor or ER.  My mom had COPD and every time she got a cold she ended up in the ICU with pneumonia.
