the other week i was attacked by 3 girls and 2 lads (scum), i cannot remember how it started as i was drunk. as all of them where kicking h**l out of me i fought back hitting the lads and girls, i was then knocked unconcious, then arrested because the 3 girls said i started it, the lads where nowhere to be seen. since then i have been to hospital with a broken cheekbone and 2 broken ribs, my eyes where nearly closed with black eyes. i told the police in the interview i fought back as self deffence which i did. none of them have any injuries or where arressted!!! ive never been involved with the police in my life, im a law abinding person full stop.

i was told by the police that the CPS will now make a decision, the police officer told me nothing may happen but if it does then it may be me who cops it as its 3 statements against one, or 3 liers against 1.

does anyone know what is likely to happen. my bail charge says its common assault. im just a worrier thats all

  1. Were there any CCTV cameras around? I bet there were, although all the police care about is getting any prosecution that they can.

Get a solicitor, make sure you press charges, don't worry too much about it.

Common assault is just about the least serious thing you can be charged with- worst case scenario is a slap on the wrist and the REAL criminals going unpunished.

If anything like this ever happens again- Never admit anything. Never talk to the police without a solicitor present. They will try to discourage you from getting a solicitor at all, possibly saying "well, we can get you a solicitor but not until tomorrow and you'll have to stay in a cell until then". This is most likely LIES and insisting on a solicitor regardless of having to spend time in a cell will do you good. You'll probably have a solicitor within a couple of minutes without having to go anywhere near a cell. This solicitor will then also represent you in court. The police will want to avoid this at any cost. Always remember your right to remain silent.

  2. You should worry and you should get a lawyer.  You say that you cannot remember how it started because you were drunk.  So how do plan to prove self-defense?

    Get that lawyer.

  3. tell them you want to give a statement for assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, once these lot realise that they are facing serious charges that may change things
