CR FLAMENGO/RJ claims Men’s 4*200m freestyle relay title: Day two – Maria Lenk Trophy
The relay team of CR FLAMENGO/RJ claimed gold medal of the Men’s 4*200m freestyle on second day of the 2012 Maria Lenk Trophy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Wednesday, April 25.
After their irresistible efforts in the Women’s 4*200m freestyle relay event, the confidence of CR FLAMENGO/RJ’s relay team elevated and they proved their eligibility for gold medal of the Men’s equivalent event.
The winning squad included forceful efforts of Joao B De Lucca, Eduardo Seeger Duarte, Leonardo De Deus, and Andre Schultz.
With the persistent efforts of all these swimmers, CR FLAMENGO/RJ occupied gold medal of the event with the timing of 7 minutes and 20.02 seconds.
Their effort was trailed by relay squad of MINAS that stayed 0.78 seconds behind and reached the victory stand for second position by submitting a time 7 minutes and 20.80 seconds.
The silver medallists were followed by relay squad of CORINTHIANS/ABDEM that stayed nearly two seconds behind and hit the finishing end for bronze medal by reporting a time of 7 minutes and 22.66 seconds.
Their gruelling effort remained almost thirteen seconds ahead of GNU’s squad that finished fourth in the distant freestyle relay discipline by clocking an effort of 7 minutes and 35.94 seconds.
Their effort remained slightly faster from their following challenger, FLUMINENSE FC/RJ, which stayed 0.31 seconds apart and touched the wall with the timing of 7 minutes and 36.25 seconds for fifth position.
The sixth best spot of the race was secured by ECP/SABESP’s team that suffered a deficit of nearly 2.50 seconds from their preceding finishers and reached the wall with the timing of 7 minutes and 38.86 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was achieved by relay team of UNISANTA that stayed nearly 2.20 seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 7 minutes and 41.08 seconds.
UNISANTA’s team was followed by BOTAFOGO FR/RJ, which obtained eighth position of the event by clocking a time of 7 minutes and 43.38 seconds.
In addition, the session came to an end after the completion of all listed events while the position holders were awarded accolades at the medal ceremony of the championship.
