CR FLAMENGO/RJ wins Women’s 4*200m freestyle relay gold: Day two – Maria Lenk Trophy
The relay squad of CR FLAMENGO/RJ won gold medal of the Women’s 4*200m freestyle on day two of the 2012 Maria Lenk Trophy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Wednesday, April 25.
The winning team constituted relentless efforts of Joanna Maranhao, Ana Carolina Araujo Santos, Mireya Belmonte and Daynara Ferreira Paula.
The team showed no mercy to their challenging squad and stayed in a comfortable lead throughout the distant relay event.
With their immaculate efforts, they stayed prominently ahead of their following team and hit the finishing end for gold medal by submitting a time of 8 minutes and 11.52 seconds for gold medal.
They were followed by the relay team of ECP/SABESP, which remained almost five seconds behind and emerged on the medal rostrum for silver medal by touching the wall with an effort of 8 minutes and 16.29 seconds.
Their immaculate effort remained almost 1.50 seconds ahead of UNISANTA’s relay team that snared bronze medal of the discipline by hitting the wall with a timing of 8 minutes and 17.73 seconds.
The fourth position of the discipline was obtained by the squad of CORINTHIANS/ABDEM, which remained nearly three seconds slower from the third fastest finisher and settled on the finishing end with the timing of 8 minutes and 20.60 seconds.
They were trailed by the team of Minas that suffered a deficit of almost 1.60 seconds from their former finishers and tapped the wall for fifth position by clocking a time of 8 minutes and 22.22 seconds.
Sixth position of the 4*200m event was secured by FLUMINENSE FC/RJ, whose swimmers stayed significantly slower from their preceding finishers and hit the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 32.87 seconds.
FFC/RJ was chased by relay squad of GNU that earned seventh position of the discipline by producing a time of 8 minutes and 35.62 seconds.
Subsequently, BOTAFOGO FR/RJ’s squad ended their swim in eighth best place by posting a time of 8 minutes and 39.34 seconds.
The session ended after the completion of all listed events whereas the championship will conclude on April 29 after the conclusion of all swimming events.
