CRETE - Who has been there?

I'm looking to travel to Crete with my boyfriend in September/October for two weeks.

Where is the best area to stay in? We're looking for a quite beachy area, not too touristy but still good access for British people. North coast preferably.

Also, what are the best things to visit in Crete?

Please, any help will be greatly appreciated.

  1. Crete is huge, but I have not been there.  Friends and relatives have gone and they would recommend other islands to go to.  Rhodes, Santorini, Mykonos, or Corfu.

  2. Laoplanos and all you Fyromians stop spamming the Greek section and get a life. I am sorry to the person who asked the question for hijacking the thread.

  3. Chania is lovely.  We stayed at the Ammos Apartments (look on flickr for some nice pictures).  Quiet, and right on the beach, but 10 minutes away from the town centre by bus (which costs 0.7 euro).  Recommended.

  4. I am Greek singer and artist and I am ashamed of those terrorists who frighten our Macedonian neighbors.

    Long live the art !

  5. The best thing in Crete is their beaches! The best I have saw(I'm from Crete) is both in south Crete. Ask info about Leda and Fragokastelo! If you dont want south then the beach named Psaromoura in Agia Pelagia has wonderful and clean waters! For more info e-mail me! The things he said about EPEK are bullsh1ts! Nothing have happened and the chance that you will be victim is 1 in 3146513045134! So dont worry and come in our sunny island! Happy Holidays!

  6. Crete is full of terrorists named as EPEK (ЕПЕК).

They frighten tourists by land mines and clockworks in the sands.

    Brrrrrrr... Ill avoid that place
