  1. Get a good balanced warmup, first, of 10-15 minutes light to firm, and a few 30-60 second intervals, and 4-5 minutes rest before hand.

Stay just below your pain threshhold, where you can hold the pace.  If you sense you are a touch too high at your pace and may not make it, back off a couple seconds worth to recover, but keep it up.  You can crank it up the last 30-60 seconds.

Don't try a true max effort more than once a week.  It will take almost a week to fully recover from it.  Start tapering for it the last few days prior.

Know what pace you can cruise at for a totally steady 2K.  Try to steadily bring that down, week by week.

  2. well first off dont fly and die. The key is maintaining your best split you possibly can thoroughout. Your split shouldn't be jumping all over the place when you row. You should be nice and relaxed throughout and breath throughout the nose.Just do your best and good luck. Remember to maintain yourself and NOT push yourself to hard too early because it ll bite you in the *** at the end. ( DONT FLY AND DIE)

    Good luck!
