CRICKET NEWS: Guyana gearing up for Champions League 2010
West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has said that Trinidad and Tobago is still the best T20 team in the country despite being eliminated in the semi-final of the recently concluded Caribbean T20 tournament.
Trinidad and Tobago, who entered the tournament as favourites to win the domestic T20 competition, ran five runs short in the semi-final against the ultimate champions of the tournament, Guyana. Even Dwayne Bravo’s whirlwind 55 runs from just 20 balls failed to make it to the final.
Bravo said that it was unfortunate that Trinidad and Tobago could not go on to lift the trophy in the recently concluded Caribbean T20 Championship. The all-rounder claimed that in domestic tournaments like the Caribbean T20, even a single bad game throws you out of the tournament. Trinidad and Tobago’s bad game came against Guyana that the later won in the end to confirm their place in the final.
Dwayne Bravo, who has been signed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783 for their semi-final game of the Friends Provident T20 tournament, still believes that Trinidad and Tobago is the best T20 team in the domestic circuit of West Indies. Trinidad and Tobago remained unbeaten throughout the qualifying stages. The West Indian all-rounder said that the preparation of his team was spot on and the entire team performed brilliantly before they lost in the semi-final stage. He said that team has been consistent throughout the tournament and they sealed victories with massive margins.
"Our preparation was spot on and until we lost in the semis we played good cricket," said Dwayne Bravo. "We were consistent and we were winning our games by large margins. I can't point fingers at this moment but I thought we had a good tournament."
Trinidad and Tobago after losing the semi-final and eventually missing out the chance of being a part of the lucrative Champions League took out their frustration against Jamaica when they thrashed them with 10 wickets for the third-place playoff.

Manager of Guyana said the victory against the strong Trinidad and Tobago side in the semi-final game would be a morale booster for the team as they are the only Caribbean team to beat them. Moore hauled Jonathan Foo for his whirlwind performance in the final of the Caribbean T20 Championship that handed Guyana a place in the Champions League. On the day when most of his teammates were off-colour, it was young Foo’s 42 off 17 balls against Barbados that helped Guyana lift the inaugural Caribbean T20 championship.
Moore gave the credit of victory to the captain Ramnaresh Sarwan and said that teamwork and the captaincy of Sarwan allowed the side an opportunity to play in the lucrative Champions League. He further added that Sarwan has been an inspiration for his team throughout the Caribbean T20 and everyone looked up to him.
